NEWS: Tower of Death is funded! But we're not finished yet...
Got something fun planned, and you can participate!
Hey roninistas!
No burying the lede here, TOWER OF DEATH was funded this week within its first 3 days!
Thank you to everyone who backed and believed in the project so far. It’s going to be a great book, and I cannot wait to get my own grubby mitts on it.
So what now? Do we pour a glass of scotch and kick it for the next 25 days?
Hell no. I’m still going to be out there rattling my cup, sharing sneak peeks, and doing media, all the way to the bitter end.
So if you haven’t backed Tower of Death yet yourself, please consider doing so.
Another way you can help is keeping an eye out for promo on Twitter and helping me spread the word.
To that end, I’m running something fun in the coming week:
There are still some custom sketch tier slots available on the Kickstarter, so I thought it’d be clever to draw some attention to them by participating in a #SixFanArts challenge.
Here’s the rules:
Suggest any character and I’ll draw what they’d look like as a ronin
You can suggest OCs, but I’d prefer characters from pop culture (film, music, comics, maybe even fun real-life figures).
It’s not first come, first served; I’ll pick the final six entries.
TO PARTICIPATE: Pop over to Twitter, give me your pitch there, and we’ll get started this weekend.

This week I was a returning guest to Comics for the Apocalypse hosted by fellow comic creator Samuel George London. If you didn’t see my first turn on the pod a year ago, the gimmick is that Sam pitches each guest a unique apocalypse scenario and we talk about how to survive it and, most importantly, find good comics to read. Sam pitched an intelligent simian uprising to me. What he did not know is that this is the apocalypse scenario I fear most of all, as I can think of nothing more humiliating than being ripped apart by a chimpanzee or rag-dolled by a silverback. So we check in on how I’m faring a year into the simian apocalypse, talk about comics I’ve been reading lately, and I do a little Tower of Death promo. We had really good banter and a lot of fun tangents, I think it’s an entertaining listen. You can check it out here, and follow Sam on all the stuff while you’re there.
I was the first EVER guest on the Wine & Comics Pairing Show hosted by Dallas and Dave Baxter. The angle here is that they read your comic and suggest a wine to pair it with. And this isn’t some shallow friendly neighborhood wine mom “I think this would go great with a merlot!” kind of claptrap. This is in-depth analysis, tying label origins and tasting notes to themes in the story. I was seriously impressed. Besides that, the show had a very Happy Hour vibe and we had lots of silly fun talking, kinda like three dudes in junior high trying to stay up as late as possible. I hope I was a good inaugural guest and that they keep doing guests, because it’s a really cool concept for a show. Anyway, find the necessary links to watch and follow here, and Wine & Comics is also on Substack.
I’ve got more media lined up in the coming weeks, so I’ll pass links along every Friday so you can check them out.
I’m also gonna keep bugging you to back Tower of Death through the end of May. If you have already, go ahead and mute me until May 31 if I’m getting too obnoxious. If you haven’t yet, what the hell are you waiting for? It’s a guaranteed bet now, back Tower of Death!
That’s all for now. Be good!
